Multi-day programmes

An intensive examination of the history of National Socialism and the Dachau concentration camp is possible as part of an educational programme lasting several days. The educational work takes place in groups of a maximum of 15 people and is led by experienced educational specialists. The content of the programme is individually adapted in advance to the time frame and the interests, knowledge and experience of the participants. The multi-day study programme builds on the concept of the day programme, but offers participants significantly more opportunities for in-depth study and reflection on history and its legacy. As an introduction, we work with units to prepare for the visit to the memorial site. The programme focuses on group expectations and content-related preparations. The didactic methods used are adapted to the requirements and prior knowledge of the participants. This is followed by a guided tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, which is designed to be interactive and participatory and concludes with an evaluation phase at the Max Mannheim Study Centre. In addition, there is usually a second, in-depth visit to the concentration camp memorial, a programme element that is explicitly requested by many participants. Additional workshops on topics such as the lives of Dachau concentration camp prisoners, the persecution of Sinti and Roma in Dachau concentration camp and the relationship between the town and the camp round off the multi-day programme.
